Cafe and Visitor Centre

Many thanks to Michael Swarbrick who has produced these records on You Tube of the buildings progress for anybody who is interested.

We are in the process of self building a brand new Cafe and Visitor Centre here in the Park so you can enjoy a brew and a view when you come down to see us. We are still searching for a name for the Cafe, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know using the contact details at the bottom of this page – vouchers for the Cafe will be awarded to the winner!

It will be a unique ecological building, if the details interest you, click here.

We need to raise £400,000 to pay for the building and to date have raised just over £396,000 thanks in no small part to the generous donations we have received from you the public and grant funding from –

Chorley Borough Council

Garfield Weston

South Ribble Borough Council

Lancashire Environmental Fund*

The Greenbank Trust (Neales Waste Management Ltd)*

Veolia Environmental Trust*

*These grants have been made possible from funding provided by the Landfill Communities Fund

The additional income the cafe provides will be used to safeguard the future of the Park so that it can continue to be enjoyed in its present form by current and future generations.

We are constructing the building ourselves with the help of volunteers. If you would like to get involved in this worthwhile project and play your part in the construction of this unique building by helping us on site, we would be pleased to welcome you. No skills are required, just enthusiasm!

Anyone interested in helping as a skilled tradesman i.e. Builder, Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber, Plasterer, or Roofer should also get in touch, contact details below .

We started the build in April 2015 and have completed the foundations, straw bale walls and are working on the floor and the roof. The next step we will be working on is the lime rendering. With luck, the Cafe should be open in Autumn 2017.

If you can help please telephone John on 01772 324436 or send an e-mail below if you would like more information.
